The Lake Mills Baseball Team is on the eve, of their programs biggest game.
But without a late inning charge in their district final win Saturday, the Bulldogs season would have been done.

After building a 7-2 lead in Saturday's game, the Bulldogs watched as the Cowboys came back to tie it at 7, in the 5th inning.

"We came off the field after that 5th inning and I told the guys that as bad as we played, we are still not behind in the game," says Lake Mills Baseball Coach Jason Blaser.

The Bulldogs responded with 12 unanswered runs, and a district title, advancing the Purple and Gold to a sub-state final.

"As coach posts in the dugout, no matter what, high or low, we keep playing through, we just kept going hard and playing through," says Lake Mills Junior Levi Dahle.

On the eve of the big game, the Bulldogs say the nerves are starting to pick up, and the desire to play at state, is at an all time high.

"They are going to be excited. They are going to be real amped up. They are going to be ready to go, but it's no more important than our first round game, if we don't win our first round game, we cant be playing here Tuesday night," says Blaser.

The only senior on this year's Bulldog Baseball Team is Chris Throne, who tomorrow night will not only pitch in the biggest game of his life, its also going to be the biggest game in the recent memory of Lake Mills High School.

"The nerves haven't hit me yet. That will probably start tomorrow morning when I wake up. I've always liked pitching, getting the ball in the biggest game should be pretty fun," says Throne.

While the 8 other starters are younger than Throne, they know that not only is he the leader, he's the key to a trip to Des Moines.

"We need to put the ball in play, and have good pitching, with Chris, we know he will, so we will be good," says Dahle.

"It's very reassuring, knowing that they trust me when I get the ball on the mound, I trust myself a lot more than other people, I guess, since I know what I'm doing," says Throne.

The bulldogs are just one of two teams in Class 2A, that have yet to lose, to another 2A school. If they keep that streak alive tomorrow, they'll head to Des Moines.
