"He is a basketball junkie who is well respected in Iowa and the Midwest."
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Former Charles City girls basketball coach Adam DeJoode is joining the University of Northern Iowa women's basketball coaching staff.

DeJoode will be an assistant to Tanya Warren.

"I am very excited about the addition of Adam to our staff," Warren said.  "Adam has a bright future at the collegiate level due to his coaching experience, incredible work ethic and outstanding knowledge of the game.  He is a basketball junkie who is well respected in Iowa and the Midwest.  He will bring a tremendous amount of passion and energy to our team."

In five seasons as Comets head coach, DeJoode's teams set 43 of 50 school records.  In 2004, Charles City went 23-4 and finished as the Class 3A State Runner-up.  His teams twice led the state in three-pointers made.

DeJoode has been as the head girls' coach at Southeast Polk since 2006 and led that program to its first winning season in a decade.

Seven of DeJoode's players have gone on to play at Division I schools including Kristyn Ferris (UNI), Danielle Wubbens (UNI) and Cala Westergard (South Dakota State).

DeJoode was also an assistant boys basketball coach for Ames from 1998-2001.  He also worked under Tim Floyd at Iowa State as a student manager.
