High School Football in the state of Iowa is making a pretty big change and that starts today with class 4-A schools.
Kicking off next year class 4-A, on the western side of the state will be divided into 4 divisions and Mason City High is on the move.

According to Mason City Athletic Director Bob Kenny, the Mohawks will be in a division with Ottumwa, Marshalltown, West Des moines Dowling, Des Moines Hoover and beginning in 2013 Ankeny Centennial.

Because Centennial will not be in action next year, Mason City will only have 5 teams in their division and will pick up another non-division opponent for one year.

Four teams from each division will make the playoffs and only your record against division teams will count in that process.

You'll notice Fort Dodge is not on that list. Kenny says the Dodgers will be number one on his list of non-division teams to play that he will send to the state, in hopes of continuing their great rivalry.
