CHARLES CITY, Iowa – It was a busy weekend for the Charles City Police Department.

On Friday evening, an officer on bike patrol conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Milwaukee Street and Hudlin Street which resulted in the arrest of Joshua Hudson, 27 of Waverly. The officer said Hudson was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. There were also two outstanding warrants for Hudson’s arrest on other drug-related charges.

On Saturday night, police were called to the area of Hulin and Wisconsin streets for someone talking loudly on a cell phone and saying upsetting things. Franklin Leslie, 30 of Charles City, was found and arrested on outstanding warrants. Authorities say Leslie twice was found in possession of drugs when he was booked into the Floyd County Jail on other charges.

And on Sunday morning, Charles City police helped in the search for two juveniles who had run away from the Bremwood Residential Treatment Center in Waverly. Authorities say the two minors stole a couple of bikes and rode them into Floyd County, then stole a vehicle from a rural residence. That vehicle was located in Charles City and the two juvenile males were later caught and returned to representatives of the Bremwood Center. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office also assisted with the search.
