MASON CITY, IA - A judge is dismissing a hearing between a local youth center and its landlord. The North Iowa Youth Center and James Fielder met Thursday morning in a Cerro Gordo County courtroom. The Fielders had an Action for Forcible Entry and Detainer claim against the group. This is the final step landlords take to evict someone from their property.
But the hearing never happened. Lawyers met with the judge beforehand, and worked out a deal. The youth center coordinator will not comment to KIMT News 3 on what this means for his program. Local realtor Tim Latham said he will let the kids use one of his buildings until NIYC can figure out another option. The Fielders' lawyer has not returned our phone calls.
