NORTHWOOD, IA - Worth County supervisors are planning to resurface three county roads. They include S-10 from Joice to Emmons, S-14 south of Joice, and A-34. The project is slated to cost the county $6 million, but Board Chairman Dennis May said taxpayers won't feel the effects.
The county is using tax revenue from the new wind farm near Grafton to re-pay the multi-million dollar bond over the next ten years. He believes paved roads will lead to more business for surrounding towns, and the project creates several jobs for area workers.
May said, "we're expecting high interest in the bid-letting process this spring on this project. As you can well imagine they have not had much work activity in the last couple years."
The Board of Supervisors is discussing the bond at Monday's meeting. May said this is just one of many ways the county is working to find financing during tough economic times.
