CHARLES CITY, IA- Iowa and Minnesota farmers are receiving a settlement letter from the debtors of a former ethanol maker.
VeraSun filed for bankruptcy nearly two years ago.
Settlement letters are now being sent to farmers and co-ops in the area.
Debtors are trying to recover most of the money paid to those people 90 days prior to the bankruptcy.
State Representative Mark Kuhn is urging farmers to hire an attorney and review their legal options.
Kuhn said, "one is the normal causes of business defense, where producers would prove that they were acting in a normal laws of business with VeraSun at the time there was nothing extraordinary."
