"Vampyre" Sentenced

ROCHESTER, MN--A self-proclaimed "Vampyre King" is vowing to continue his fight as he is sentenced in court.

Jonathon Sharkey, 45, is pleading guilty to 2 misdemeanor counts of harassment in Olmsted County.

He's accused of threatening to inflict bodily harm against a 15 year old Rochester girl and her family in the summer of 2007.

They want to remain anonymous.

It began when the girl sent an email to Sharkey’s MySpace web page expressing support for his Presidential Candidacy as the leader of the Vampyres, Witches and Pagans Party.

Sharkey Describes himself as a blood feeding vampyre, hecate witch and satanic dark priest.

Their relationship started out platonically online and she considered him a friend.

Not long afterward Sharkey began referring to her as his “princess” on his MySpace page and claimed to have taken her as his wife.

Court records suggest the pair “had phone sex” several times.

The relationship got nasty when the teen tried to break it off.

Sharkey admits he aggressively pursued her via email, phone calls and at least one threatening letter to her parents after he claims she threatened him.

"When she ended up telling me she was a member of an elite vampire hunter society that lit me up like a roman candle because these people track down my people, kill my people," said Sharkey during an interview in March.

The girl who is now 17 years old said, "I pretty much told him anything I could basically pull out of my backside to get him to leave me alone before I called the police."

During her victim impact statement at sentencing on Monday morning, the teenager told the court:

“I hope Jonathon rots in the deepest pit of hell after receiving the most painful and degrading death. If that can’t be possible, I hope he lives out the rest of his life with nothing but misery and shame.

He betrayed me in the worst possible way; by gaining my trust and ruining my life because he’s used to getting whatever he wants. Jonathon is nothing more than a spoiled, arrogant pig who deserves no happiness at all.

He took away an entire year of my life that I can never get back. I was quarantined to my house for months, not allowed to even go out to the mall with my friends. After my parents started to trust me, I still couldn’t go anywhere without being scared of him coming after me.

All this time I was told that this whole thing was my fault. It wasn’t until recently that that it was always him to blame.

He will always say nothing is his fault, but that’s because he’s nothing but a whining, immature, manipulating coward.”

In his statement before the court Sharkey said:

“Adam had Eve, Samson had Delilah, I have ___. When ____ stated to me
through her emails and numerous times over the phone that she was a member of an elite vampire hunter society that has killed my people.”

“…Like a father who is protective of his children I am protective of my people. So when I was confronted by someone who knows too much about the ways of vampire hunters stalk and attack my people, I wanted to know who these murderous terrorists were, by any means possible. Especially given the fact that no one in this county would address ______ terrorist actions”

“It is a sad day in the American justice when someone can threaten to cut off the head of a presidential candidate and those who have sworn to protect and serve will not take action against the one who violated federal law.”

In an interview after the sentencing The teenager said, “It is not my fault, I am not the person who preyed on a 15 year old girl gaining her trust and support in order to try to have sex with her. It is not okay for a forty something year old man to want to have sex with an underage girl especially when she’s young enough to be his daughter.

The girl also believes Sharkey’s vampyrism is a “ruse to gain the trust of young girls and to get them to fall into his basic trap.”

She hopes the lesson others can learn from her experience is to never trust anyone they meet online.

Sharkey has already served the 180 days in jail required under terms of his sentencing.

The former fringe presidential candidate said he plans to fight an attempt to send him to Indiana.

Sharkey is facing a felony charge of intimidating a judge in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He claims to be writing a book called “Unlawful Removal.” It will document how Sharkey was arrested in at his home in Grundy County Tennessee in September of 2008.

Sharkey maintains his civil rights were violated because he did not receive an extradition hearing before he was sent to Minnesota in January of 2009 to face coercion and harassment charges.

Sharkey was a candidate for the office of governor in Minnesota in 2006, but his candidacy was derailed when he was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant in Indiana.

He is promising to announce his candidacy for Minnesota's governorship this fall on Friday, November 13.
