MASON CITY, IA - Iowa's governor is recognizing the month of February as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.
It's the third year congress has associated the issue with the month of February, but this year Governor Branstad is signing a proclamation to show Iowa’s support.
Mary Ingham with Crisis Intervention Services says it's a good thing, since it's an issue we even experience here.
"This is really helping to say, it's really no different here in Mason City versus maybe Los Angeles or New York City. This is happening in our community, to our kids."
Mary Ingham says teens can call the hotline and give as much or as little information as they want.
