ALDEN, Minn.- Driving more than 700 miles on single gallon fuel sounds pretty good with gas prices inching towards four dollars a gallon.
Some Southern Minnesota high school students created a vehicle that gets about 760.
The Alden-conger "Super Mileage" Team just returned from a trip to Texas.
They competed against colleges and universities from all over North America, and took home second place in the ethanol division.
"I wasn't expecting to do this good, especially going up against really big universities that have a lot of money that they can put into their cars, coming from a little town and a little school I wasn't expecting to do as good as we did, so it was a really fun surprise to end up getting second," said team captain Tyler Adix.
Shell Gasoline funded the "Eco-Marathon."
The school currently holds the state record for longest distance on a single gallon of gas.
