CLEAR LAKE, IA - A North Iowa school district is trying to decide what to do with an empty building.  Clear Lake's School Board closed Sunset View Elementary School this summer.  The kindergartners and first graders are now taking classes at Clear Creek.

Superintendent Dwight Pierson said the kids are adjusting well, so now he's suggesting the board consider selling the school.  But Pierson added, most families want to keep the green space on the north side open for youngsters to play.

Pierson explained, "I'm sure they're going to express their desire that at least that space remain in the public domain.  Which I think would be a reasonable request."

The school board is planning several public hearings on the future of Sunset View.  They haven't set exact dates yet, but expect to hold them in December and January.  Board members are hoping to make final a decision by next spring.
