Mason City, IA- A group of Iowa bar owners has its date in court set to fight the smoking ban.
The law made bar and restaurant owners put the butts out last July, but "The Iowa Bar Owners Coalition" says the legislation violates their rights.
They filed their lawsuit the same day the ban took effect. A judge ruled in August that the group's only viable complaint is the exemptions granted to casinos.
One Mason City bar owner believes they have a good case.
"The thing that hurt us most was that casino, up there in Northwood, they cost me a lot of money," said Kozy Korner Bar Owner George Pierson.
The lawsuit names the Iowa Department of Public Health and The State of Iowa. A trial is set for the end of June.
