MASON CITY, IA---A lizard is dead following a small house fire in Mason City.
At around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Kevin Busma returned to his mobile home at 169 Gracious Estates and found smoke inside.
A shoe left next to a heat lamp on top of a terrarium caught fire and the flames burned the leather and began melting the shoe.
A fire captain said the smoke apparently killed Busma's bearded dragon.
