Rushford Village, MN- It's not uncommon for people to get confused when traveling to Rushford Village.
"Rushford village looks like a township when you see it on the map and in a lot of publications it does show up as a township," said Fillmore County Coordinator Karen Brown.
Rushford village is actually a township-sized city, and surrounds the communities of Rushford and Peterson.
When the board of commissioners voted to get new map printed, Rushford village was left off.
"The only value a map has is to put in place accurate positions of where things are whether you're a visitor emergency responder or anybody else," said Dale Schwanke.
Schwanke is a Rushford Village city council member. He took his concerns to the county board of commissioners, where he learned the printing company made other mistakes as well.
Saint Cloud Cartographics added sites of interest like golf courses that were out of place.
"Very disheartening, the commissioners were, very disappointed because we had spent $9,100 on this initial run," said Brown.
At first the county considered a temporary fix, like stickers in order to save the cost of reprinting. Schwanke says it wasn't good enough.
"Why would you have paid for a map that wasn't right the first time around?"
The board of commissioners voted to have the map reprinted with the corrections made, and recently sent it to the printing company.
"We will take and check it and hopefully they will have it all right, and we can call our local county commissioner Randy Dahle and thank him for finally getting this thing cleared up for us," Schwanke said.
The county is getting a discount rate of three thousand dollars to have the maps reprinted. They're expecting delivery in five to six weeks.
