Rockford, IA- Some North Iowa educators are having a hard time balancing next year's budget.

The Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School District is anticipating a big budget deficit next year. The superintendent is worried about an estimated $50,000 shortfall. He blames a lower level of state funding and declining enrollment for the loss Steve Ward said they're looking at ways to reduce spending.

"Some possibilites cost saving measure which includes reducing teaching and support staff. We are trying to be proactive and up front let everyone know what's going on," said Ward.

Ward said he and other superintendents are talking to state lawmakers to lobby for more funding for North Iowa's schools.
