MASON CITY, IA-In one week stores across the area are expecting to be full of bargain hunting shoppers.
Some stores are sticking to the early morning deals and trying to make their shops less hectic.
Other business owners are sleeping in and creating sales that shoppers can enjoy later on in the day.
It's about that time of year when folks gear up for the yearly early morning shopping trip.
Shopper Farrah Wehrspan says, "because of the sales shopping for my self first cause my husband doesn't shop so i'm picking out stuff for my self and wrapping it up then i'll shop for other people...but I love the sales."
Stores all across the area are preparing for those day break deal seekers who wait in line after line to nab all the day after Thanksgiving sales.
Best Buy's General Manager Amber Meja says,"we try to get our customers to go out and feel how fun that day is and it's not so chaotic they come here expecting chaos and we just try and turn that around by going out there talking to them giving them doughnuts and coffee...some of them stay out there all night."
It's all in the spirit to make Black Friday run more smoothly.
Best Buy wants to avoid injury from a mad dash when opening the door, so they're handing out tickets to those folks waiting in line for items.
Meja says, "then it's not a mad rush to those items people know if they have a ticket..they get the item if they don't they know we're out of them so that has helped us quite a bit with a lot of craziness."
Some business's are trying to avoid that craziness by not participating in the early deals.
Business Owner Katie Benson says, "I don't like the mornings..it's fun but also frustrating because you can't get to all of the sales because they all end at the same time so that's part of the reason i decided to extend it to a later time."
The big sales here start at eleven, but either time shoppers decide to come out, they'll still face crowds, but for some, that isn't an issue.
Wehrspan says, "the crowds don't bother me, I like the atmosphere of being around the other people..it gets me in the mood for it."
The manager at Best Buy says the earliest she's ever seen anyone out was last year, and the person put up a tent in their parking lot in the afternoon on Thanksgiving day.
