Hancock County, IA- People of Hanock County voiced their concerns about a proposal for an egg-cracking plant Monday.

The plan is to build the 120-acre facility on this area. There's one topic that seems to be on everyone's minds.

"Potential problems, run way more water over us than our drainage district can handle," said Kevin Kraft,

Kraft farms land next to the potential plant's site. Hawkeye Pride Egg Farms is looking at building three miles southeast of Corwith. Kraft believes runoff from storm's could overwhelm the drainage system potentially flooding his land.

"Starts to get into my pocketbook won't work very well," said Kraft.

Now, landowners and the egg farm managers are trying to reach some common ground. The General Manager said he realizes there are drainage issues on the south side of the property.

"Our contention is to design a storm water retention area to help minimize concerns," said J.T. Dean.

Dean said their engineer is working on ways to make sure the area can handle a major storm. He said it could even make drainage better.

The two hope they can come to an agreement.
