FRANKLIN COUNTY, IA - Organizers of a public shooting range are finding ways to keep the gates open. The Franklin County Board of Supervisors is approving a pay-as-you-go plan for the North Hansell Shooting Complex.
Complex president Keith Kothenbeutel said county leaders have been incredibly helpful figuring out the best option. Since the shooting range is on public land, they're asking for folks to pay in the same way you would at a campground.
"We're going to have an annual fee that they can pay, $35, and that gets them a year's pass in the facility. Or they can come out on an individual basis whenever they want to and pay a $3 user fee," he explained.
The North Hansell Shooting Complex is open Thursdays from 5:00-7:00, Saturdays from 10:00-5:00, and Sundays from 1:00-3:00. It's located east of Highway 65. Follow CR-C25 east, and take a right on CR-S56.
