GLENVILLE, MN--The State of Minnesota is cracking down on an online charter school for violating state laws.

As we reported last month in a KIMT Special Report, the Minnesota Department of Education says BlueSky Online is graduating students who haven't met minimum state curriculum guidelines.

Now in a letter, the state says BlueSky has until March 21 to shut themselves down or the state will do it.

Local officials say this is one flaw online schools come with, you need to do your research and make sure they're educating kids well.

Glenville-Emmons, Lyle, Grand Meadow Superintendent Jerry Reshetar says, "If you use some online assets, in your school, you have to have a reputable person that's providing that asset to make sure that its meeting that state standards and providing the student with the instruction that they need."

Reshetar says online school has its place and it can be a great supplement, but he believes in face-to-face curriculum too. Going on to say that teachers are role models and provide guidance too.
