Osage, IA- An area community is looking to nature to supply some of its electrical power.

The City of Osage is getting ready to buy a wind turbine.  The more than one and a half megawatt's its going to supply will provide about eight percent of the city's energy needs.

The general manager of the city's municipal utilities department says they are trying to stay ahead of the renewable energy curve.

But it's going to take a little more than a decade before osage reaps the benefits.

"Our feasibility study indicated for the first ten or twelve years, it woun't start paying off until that time," said Osage Municipal Utilities General Manager Dennis Fannin.

The city is getting nearly $2 million dollars in bonds to pay for the more than three million dollar project.

Right now city leaders are in the process of finding a contractor.
