MASON CITY,IA-Upgrades at a local school are making it safer and more user friendly.
Newman Catholic Schools got a grant from FEMA to build this safe area and they are moving in this week.
The addition creates a better environment for music.
Bigger spaces, better acoustics and even practices areas.
Plus in case of severe weather, all of the students at Newman can take shelter there.
Choir Director Allison Day says, “So we are very excited. We are in the moving process right now. They have been built to house our fine arts facilities. We've got practice rooms and new band and choir rooms, offices for the teachers to do lessons in. It's awesome.”
The community is also welcome to use the shelter if severe weather hits.
