A new biodiesel plant in north Iowa is one step closer to becoming a reality.

Investors, law makers and business people attended a dedication of Growth Design Corporation’s new biodiesel plant outside of Forest City.

Growth Design's CEO says this plant will be a model for others in the country. He says the it will use every day wastes to produce the product.

"America needs energy independence. Why not use our existing waste, resources, oils from restaurants, oils from ethanol plants and make an efficient, environmentally neutral gallon of bio-diesel at a cost that's very competitive," said CEO Byron Tweeten.

The plant is expected to be up and running by the summer of 2011.
