A local museum is a finalist for a special award.The Jenison, Meacham Memorial Art Museum and Farm in Belmond is up for a site of the year award.
The chairman of the board for the Belmond Area Arts Council says the museum is one of North Iowa's best kept secrets.
He says it offers a variety of exhibits and events that celebrate the culture of northern Iowa. “That culture on where we're at and where we're heading, and you kind of got to know where you've been to appreciate where you're going and where you're at and I think we do that here,” said David Nelson, the chairman of the board for the Belmond Area Arts Council.
