Osage, IA- North Iowa economic leaders are celebrating after getting nearly a million dollars in grants from the state.

The Iowa Department of Economic Development is awarding Mitchell County with the funding for two projects.

One is a rental housing project in Osage.  The other is a home owner assistance program in Saint Ansgar.

The Mitchell County Economic Development Commission says the projects are important for the area.

"They know in Des Moines we've created new jobs in Osage, Mona, St. Ansgar, Stacyville, and Riceville, and they know its important then to also follow up and do housing to support those new jobs," Mitchell County Economic Development Director Brenda Dryer.

If you live in Mitchell County and would like more information on these housing programs you can contact Dryer at 641-732-4790 or by e-mail at mcedcdirector@osage.net.
