School Set to Get New Lunchroom
Glenville, MN-An area school is getting a new lunchroom.
Right now, tables and chairs are scuffed. The Superintendent Mark Roubinek says their cafeteria is long overdue for a make-over. He says isn't exactly a top priority project.
"Being a small district finances are sometimes tough especially now with state budgets," said Roubinek.
Now an extreme cafeteria contest is about to turn their makeover dreams into reality. The Minnesota School Nutrition Association is giving giving money one district to re-vamp it's lunch room and Glenville-Emmons is it.
"When the kids come back this fall they'll have a transformed cafeteria," Jean Ronnei, President of Minnesota School Nutrition Association.
The contest organizers believe the make-over is important for nutrition and learning. They say a school cafeteria should be like your favorite restaurant.
"The food is not only delicious but the surroundings are applealing," said Ronnei.
The menu will also feature more nutritious items and locally grown foods.
"We think those things kind of go hand and hand," said Roubinek.
It's enough to get a seventh grader excited about lunch.
"It looks good for our school. Come sit down have a better time," said Dalton, 7th Grader.
