MASON CITY, IA -
A conclusion is in sight for the third person involved in the 2008 shooting death of a Mason City man. Today Jamie McFarland is officially submitting his plea of guilty for first degree burglary.McFarland was involved along with Damion Seats and Andre Wells in the August 2008 shooting death of Isidoro Erreguin. Seats was found to be the person who shot Erreguin and Wells was present in the room.
Seats is sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder and burglary. McFarland was a key witness in seat's trial. He reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in exchange for his testimony. McFarland’s attorney, Richard S. Piscopo, says they are dropping the murder charges.
"I think it's a lesson to all parents and teens that those you associate with can make a significant impact on your life. In the blink of an eye your life can be changed like Jamie’s was."
McFarland is still facing charges of first degree burglary, which carries a penalty of up to twenty five years in prison.
