MASON CITY, IA - Lights, camera, action, North Iowa! A bit of Mason City history will appear on a national documentary this month.
HBO is going to premiere a piece of the 12 part documentary soon called "How Democracy Works Now."
The series focuses on the topic of immigration and the democratic process, and part one features an event in “River City” that started at the 2001 Band Festival parade.
"You know Mason City that was really founded by immigrants, and that's the first time that we've really had that question on the table," said Mason City Chamber of Commerce Director Robin Anderson.
Unfortunatly, producers say the HBO episode won't be the one featuring Mason City. The show won't air until March 24th, but we've got a preview for you, and a look back at the Mason City event that made national headlines.
It's coming Thursday night, on KIMT News 3 at 10.
