MASON CITY, IA - Local schools are finding ways to get creative to combat looming state budget cuts.
Now, the Clear Lake and Mason City school districts are considering sharing a superintendent to save money.
It's an idea leaders say they've been tossing around for a while.
Clear Lake's interim superintendent says the districts already share several resources, and he says the idea of sharing supers is a good step.
"There's a multitude of ways that we can work together,” said Interim Superintendent Dwight Pierson, “not only Mason City and Clear Lake, but I think all districts are having discussions on ways that we can use what resources we have."
Pierson says the districts would also be eligible for state incentives for sharing superintendents.
Mason City's school board will discuss the option on Wednesday morning.
