MASON CITY, IA---What sort of pitch will Mason City use to sell itself to Google?
Several cities across the country are creating videos and trying to market themselves to the internet giant.
A You Tube video is one of the requirements as communities apply for the chance to get the company to choose them for a high-speed internet trial.
Mason City's Google Committee met for the first time on Monday.
City Administrator Brent Trout said the group is composed of city staff, people from the local schools, community college, business community, chamber of commerce and economic development.
A video of some sort placed on You Tube is a part of the application process.
So will they do a song like Peoria, Illinois did as a part of their application?
"Well you never know what can come from creative minds that we have here, if there's a need we feel like that's an important asset to getting this type of thing we'll sure consider it. We'll look at all possibilities to get their attention" said Trout.
Trout said the application is due on March 26.
Mason City's Google Committee has more than a few meetings scheduled before they will get their application together.
They have a 10 minute limit on You Tube.
Trout figures we'll see video clips of people from all walks of life doing testimonials about why Mason City is the best choice.
