Mason City Grad to be U.S. Attorney

MASON CITY, IA---A Mason City High School graduate is going to be a U.S. Attorney in the state of Iowa.

Stephanie Rose is a 1991 Mohawk graduate.

On Saturday The U.S. Senate confirmed Rose for U.S. Attorney for Northern Iowa and Nick Klinefeldt for U.S. Attorney for Southern Iowa.

Their terms will be four years.

Both were recommended by Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin in March.

He said both "will fairly and vigorously enforce the law."

Rose has been a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's office in the Northern District of Iowa for 12 years.

She becomes the first female chief federal prosecutor in Iowa in 30 years.

Klinefeldt practiced criminal law in Boston and has worked for the last three years in the Des Moines law firm Ahlers & Cooney.

He was the Iowa counsel for the Obama campaign and a former Harkin aide.
