CLEAR LAKE, IA - A North Iowa film festival is now taking submissions for this summer's event. The Iowa Independent Film Festival is in its sixth year out in Clear Lake.
Officials say they're taking submissions until May, then selected films will show July 13th through the 15th.
Festival Director, Richard Schinnow tells us the festival has really expanded in the past few years.
"We don't have a lot of the kinds of films people see at the Cineplex. We're not about car chases; these are good stories generally speaking, lots of human elements to them."
The Iowa Independent Film Festival gets submissions from all over the country, but they're looking to encourage more North Iowa directors to start making movies.
