AUSTIN, MN - A U.S. Senator is making her way through southern Minnesota.
Amy Klobuchar is back in the state continuing part of her "Innovation Tour." She's talking with city leaders and businesses and economic innovation and job growth.
Senator Klobuchar started her southern Minnesota tour Saturday morning in Rochester. She also made stops in Harmony, Albert Lea, Fairmont and Austin.
In Austin the senator had a meeting with mayor Tom Stiehm and other city leaders. They talked mostly about the city's flood history and what they're doing to avoid future problems. The senator was impressed with the city's plans.
“More and more communities are seeing it and it's a question of how to adapt you don't just close your eyes and say it's a once in a hundred year thing it's going to happen again and you find the best way to handle it," said Klobuchar.
Since Klobuchar began her Innovation Tour last month she's been to more than 25 communities in Minnesota.
Klobuchar recently introduced the Innovative America Act together with Republican Senator Scott Brown. That bill would cut red tape and help businesses utilize research and development for new products as well as promote U.S. exports in new markets to strengthen the global economy.
