Time in an Internment Camp
Osage, IA- An Ames, Iowa woman is sharing her stories from World War II, when was forced into an internment camp for Japanese Americans.
When the war broke out, Grace Amemiya was attending nursing school in California. She says she was a regular american attending college. But folowing the bombing of Pearl Harbor, she says racism broke out more than ever before.
Japanese Americans had curfews and weren't allowed to work more than five miles away from home.
Amemiya is telling her story with folks in Osage.
She says her time in the camp isn't leaving her bitter. Amemiya says her story is a possitive one.
