NORTHWOOD, IA - We're learning new details about a police call that ended in a high speed chase to Northwood.
Around 6:20 PM on Thursday, the Mower County Sheriff's Department responded to a call in rural Lyle, Minnesota of a man threatening someone with a knife.
When they arrived, the man, 27 year-old Jeremy Ashley Winkel, fled the scene on a bike and they called in Austin's K-9 unit for assistance.
While searching on foot, dispatch informed officers that the man had just radioed in from the K-9 squad car and was on the move in the stolen vehicle.
A high speed chase then began that exceeded speeds of 120 miles per hour and saw the man traveling in and out of Iowa and Minnesota.
He also struck another squad car and a dog were struck during the wild ride.
Eventually, Winkel radioed law enforcement and arranged to surrender in Northwood.
The pursuit ended in front of the Northwood fire department where the man was taken into custody.
No word yet on the condition of the dog he struck.
