MASON CITY, IA-It's a call animal control officers take from time to time. But sometimes, they can't help.
No one knows who's responsible for hurting this goose in Mason City's East Park.
But as you can see, there's an arrow going through its feathered body.
Officers tried getting a hold of the bird to figure out how best to help.
Unfortunately the goose managed to hobble its way to the water before anyone could catch it.
Animal Control Officer Pat Gansen said, "we get these call periodically through the year and if we can catch them, we'll take them to the vet for evaluation. otherwise, sometimes it seems cruel. Sometimes we just have to let nature take its course."
Gansen said as much as people love wildlife, it's important not to put your life at risk when reaching out to these wounded creatures.
