IA Army Natl. Guard Homecoming Ceremonies Planned

CAMP DODGE- JOHNSTON, IA---Community homecoming ceremonies for Iowa Army National Guard units mobilized for Operation Iraqi Freedom will be held in five different Iowa communities on Wednesday, October 28.

Local officials and Iowa National Guard leadership will participate, and the public are welcome and encouraged to attend the following homecoming ceremonies for the 1133rd and 1168th Transportation Companies:

Mason City - 1133rd Transportation Company (approximately 110 Soldiers) - homecoming at 11:30 a.m., North Iowa Fair Grounds, 3700 4th St. SW, Mason City.

Audubon - Detachment 2, 1168th Transportation Company (approximately 60 Soldiers) -homecoming at 2:30 p.m., Audubon High School gymnasium, 800 3rd Ave., Audubon.

Iowa City - Detachment 1, 1133rd Transportation Company (approximately 30 Soldiers) - homecoming at 1:30 p.m., Johnson County 4-H Fairgrounds, Bldg C, 4261 Oak Crest Hill Rd SE, Iowa City.

Perry - 1168th Transportation Company (approximately 60 Soldiers) - homecoming at 1:30 p.m., High School, 1200 18th St, Perry.

Marshalltown - Detachment 1, 1168th Transportation Company (approximately 30 Soldiers) - homecoming at 1:30 p.m., Marshalltown Community College, 3700 S Center St, Marshalltown.

Approximately 300 Iowa Army National Guard Soldiers were mobilized from the 1133rd and 1168th Transportation Companies for this deployment.

They traveled to Fort Bliss, Texas in October 2008 for additional training before departing for the Central Command Theater of Operations.

The units are medium truck companies which transport equipment and supplies in a theater of operations.

Both units previously deployed in 2003-2004 for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
