Local health officials urge diabetics to get the Hepatitis B vaccine.
The Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health wants diabetics to know about some new recommendations.
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is now recommending diabetics receive the Hepatitis B vaccination.
The group says adults ages 19 through 59 with type 1 or 2 diabetes show get the vaccine.
They advise adults over 60 be vaccinated after their doctor looks at their possible immune response to the vaccine.
