Hampton, IA- You won't hear any clucking or oinking within the limits of one area city any time soon.
The Hampton City Council is considering a hobby livestock ordinance. The city's zoning administrator says they recently had a request from one community member to house some livestock on the land on the edge of town.
The ordinance will allow only horses and cows and those interested will need approval from the city’s board of adjustment.

"No chickens, no pigs, no exotic animals outside of cows or horses that's it, and like I said it's gonna have some very strict stipulations I'm assuming from the board of adjustment," said Hampton Zoning Administrator Doug Tarr.
The ordinance needs two more readings before gaining approval. Tarr adds while it appears to be an abundance of ag land within the city limits, most of it was grandfathered in.
