Garner Fire Takes Family's Pet
Garner, IA- Crews are cleaning up from an early Sunday evening fire in North Iowa.
At around 5:30pm Sunday, fire fighters arrived a home on West 8th Street in Garner. Steve Mace and his family say they were home at the time and began smelling smoke.
Everyone got out safely except for the family's new dog. The Fire Chief believes the fire started in the home's basement.
"Upon arrival, we had flames coming out of the basement and heavy smoke. We got it knocked down," said Chief Terry Jass.
They are waiting on word from the state fire marshall as to what caused the fire.
