OSAGE, IA--
One major American auto maker is recalling more than four million vehicles. The Associated Press reports the Ford Motor Co. is recalling older model Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.
They're concerned about a switch on the vehicles' cruise controls.
Apparently that switch has a chance of catching on fire.
A mechanic at one local Ford dealer tells us it's a quick and easy problem to fix. “From the break fluid getting on the electrical part of it, it can start a fire there,” said Brad Broers, a service mechanic at Leading Edge Ford in Osage, IA. “This harness has a fuse built into it,” he said, while displaying the replacement part. “So that…. if there is a problem with break fluid leaking it blows the fuse, in return you won't have the fire,” he said.
If you own one of the recalled vehicles, Broers said you should get a letter in the mail.
He said the problem should only take a few minutes to fix.
