Charles City, IA- Changes in medicinal marijuana laws won't help a North Iowa woman charged with drug possession.

Kim Robinson of Marble Rock is facing several felonies relating to marijuana possession.  They include tax evasion, growing marijuana and possession of the drug, with intent to deliver.

We talked to Robinson shortly after Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputies discovered Marijuana in her home in July of 2008 inside her home.

She's accused of having nearly 20 marijuana plants in various stages of development.

County Attorney Jesse Marzen says Robinson’s initial claim that she was using the drug for medicinal purposes has no bearing in this case.

Floyd County’s attorney says she'll be prosecuted under the law as it was written at the time of the offense.

If future legislation is passed regarding medicinal marijuana, it will have no bearing on her case.

Marzen also said Robinson’s comments to the media could be brought up during trial.

"Under the rules of evidence obviously defendant’s statements are possible admissible so that's an issue that I suspect will be addressed in this matter,” Marzen said.
