Law License Suspended
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Supreme Court has suspended the
law license of Floyd County Attorney Jess Marzen for at least six
months for violating professional conduct rules before he took
office.
In Friday's ruling, the high court said Marzen would be
suspended for having a sexual relationship with a client in 2006
and for disclosing client confidences to the public.
The court says the case "goes well beyond the vulnerablity that
is inherent in all attorney-client relationships."
Marzen's attorney, Roger Sutton of Charles City, says he
disagrees with the court's ruling.
The Iowa attorney general's office says a county attorney whose
law license is suspended can't carry out the functions of the
office.
