MASON CITY, IA--
Mason City is getting a dose of good news as it continues to deal with flood damage. The city's mayor, Roger Bang is happy to learn they will be receiving $200,000 to help clean-up.
He said the money could be used on several projects, including bridge work on 13th Street Northeast.
It could also go toward a retaining wall at the water treatment plant, widening the road on 12th street, or be used to repair the East Park Bandshell.
“There's literally a need for a lot and we're getting a lot and the 200 can be spread in several different places,” said Bang.
The mayor said the latest grant is only a small portion of the funding Mason City has received and there will likely be more in the future.
