AUSTIN, MN--A local town is nearly done replacing some much missed leadership. Austin's Police Chief Committee just finished final interviews this afternoon at 4.

The three candidates are Jeff McCormick, who's currently chief in Cannon Falls, Roger Pohlman, a lieutenant in Grand Forks. And internal candidate Brian Krueger , a 26-year veteran.

The committee is made up of two council members and Mayor Tom Stiehm.

Stiehm says he'd like their decision to be unanimous, "You know that's what we'd like to see, maybe we'll discuss it a little bit. There is potentially if, if you know we feel we want to discuss it further we may put it off our decision, we may take a decision and put if off until Monday."

He also says that all 3 are so qualified the decision will be hard. And says the interview process is very important because someone may look good on paper, but they need to fit in with the current department and Austin.

The committee says they won't announce their choice until the candidates have been notified. So the decision will likely be known, and voted on, at Austin's Monday council meeting.
