Dumont, IA- An area community is reaching out to a family trying to recover from more devastation. We told you about a weekend fire that destroyed the home of Robert White and his children in Dumont. Local school leaders are putting out a call for help. They say the day of the blaze, the family had been going to Iowa Falls for dinner to recognize the end of a tough year.
Their wife and mother died in January of 2009. During their drive on Sunday, they learned their house was on fire. They lost everything.
Hampton-Dumont High School Principal Trent Grundmeyer tells KIMT News 3, "They're a resilient family. And they'll pull together through this. And with the help of family and friends in the community, the Red Cross, I think they'll be ok. And they'll continue to be a great family in our community."
If you would like to donate anything other than money to the family, the family sizes of shirts, pants, and shoes are below. The school is accepting material donations for the family in the back room of the office until Thursday this week.
