Deadly Weekend on IA Roads

MASON CITY, IA--Two people are dead and another is hurt after a crash just south of Kendallville on Highway 139, in Winneshiek County Saturday morning.

Richard and Donna Wierk, of Fairbank died when their motorcycle was hit head-on.

The Iowa State Patrol said a car driven by Michelle Currier, 38 of Preston, Minnesota crossed the center line and hit the Wierck's motorcycle.

Currier is recovering at the Mayo Clinic.

In Bremer County, a woman died near Denver in a head-on collision with a semi-tractor trailer on Saturday afternoon.

Dawn Joy Vocal, 45, of Oelwein was tossed from her vehicle.

The truck was driven by Kenneth Dreyling of Albert Lea, Minnesota.

On Saturday night, Todd Ranes of Lake Mills died just North of Forest City.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office said that Ranes motorcycle struck a deer.

The Iowa State Patrol said 2 people
died and five others were injured after a three-vehicle pileup near
Washington.

The two killed in the Saturday afternoon accident have been
identified as 30-year-old Samuel Langstaff and 29-year-old
Jacqueline Langstaff, both of Indianola.

Officers said a pickup truck driven by 17-year-old Andrew Brock
of Washington allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into the
Langstaffs' SUV.

The Langstaffs' vehicle was then struck by a truck driven by
26-year-old Jared Freel of North Liberty.
 
Brock and Freel were also injured in the crash along with
15-year-old Spencer Miller and 16-year-old David Haifley, both of
Washington, and 19-year-old Travis Filben of Keota.
