Deadly Crash Near Britt

BRITT, IA--A North Iowa man is dead after a collision with a trailer in Hancock County.

The Iowa State Patrol reports it happened Saturday afternoon, around 3:45 p.m., just west of Britt.

Christopher Ludwig, 20, of Corwith was Westbound on Highway 18.

His F250 Ford pickup was towing a small single axle trailer which came unhooked, it did not have safety chains, and it crossed the center line.

The trailer slammed head-on into an Eastbound Ford Escape driven by Daniel Stites of Britt.

Stites died from the injuries he received in the collision.

Ludwig and whoever else was inside his truck were not hurt in the wreck.
