Mason City, IA- It's spring, but winter troubles for some families aren't over.
Every year the North Iowa Community Action Organization offers relief to folks struggling to pay heating bills.
This year the organization says they're seeing more applications for assistance. Now they're extending the deadline to apply for the energy assistance to the end of May.
"A lot of people are coming out of the winter with higher heat bills and bills they can't pay. Maybe they've gone on a payment arrangement and this extra money will be helpful,” said Myrna Long of North Iowa Community Action.
