AUSTIN, MN - Legal troubles got him removed from the Austin police force and now, Curt Rude's career as a school board member comes to an end as well.
Curt Rude chose not to attend the Austin school board meeting Monday night; under the advice of a state arbitrator.
He says he shouldn't take part in the proceedings to decide his fate.
The board voted unanimously to remove Rude from his position after a lawsuit filed by Rude against the district last year.
The board says, that was a conflict of interest.
While Rude was a no show, he did send a letter to his former board members asking them to focus on the task at hand.
"Is it prudent to continue to spend district resources on legal proceedings and maneuvers,β said school board member Diana Wangsness speaking for Curt Rude, βor is the time right to focus these moneys towards the classroom?"
Rude also writes he will not seek legal action against the board, and that it was an honor to serve the district.
Rude was recently fired from his position as a captain on the Austin police force too after being found guilty of illegal drug possession.
He is currently serving community service after being convicted on the drug charges.
