AUSTIN, MN--Mower County's most expensive project ever will soon be making its public debut.
The building will be done the first week in September. It will house the court system and the jail. But the police and sheriff's offices as well as dispatch will stay put in the law enforcement center.
The move for courts will happen the week of September 13. And they will be fully operational September 20.
Recently the county board voted to move ahead and start developing the Robbins Block, in mid-August, into a parking lot. The landscaping will be done by the "Spruce Up" Austin committee.
Mower County Coordinator Craig Oscarson says the parking is much needed, "I think internally there's employees are just ready for this and I think a lot of the customers are too. You know customers drive around and when the streets are full they have no place to park."
Oscarson says he hopes the public comes out to the September 11 justice center open house. People can tour just about everything, but once the building is in operation they can't go into the jail. So he welcomes you, to see how your money was spent.
